The background to the story is that we were looking for a pet toward the end of 2005 as a Christmas present, we had decided earlier in the year that we were going to get either,

We wanted to "do it right" so that discounted the guinea pig and rabbit idea, as although from previously experiencing a guinea pig and rabbit living together quite happily, there was plenty of advice given that it was not a good idea (due to the different languages and the fact that the guinea pig could get bullied by the rabbit).

That left the 2 guinea pigs and 2 rabbits idea....

Now, we had heard something about "house trained rabbits" and the fact that you can get them to use a litter tray, something which i've never been able to get guinea pigs to do, so we decided on 2 rabbits.

We bought a hutch in November 2005 from ebay via the good fellows at happyhutch.com and it was delivered and installed in the garage ready for the lucky bunnies who were going to live there. The problem that faced us then, was deciding what breed, colour and where to obtain them from. Knowing from previous experience that pet shop rabbits are handled infrequently and can be quite temperamental we decided to look for a proper rabbit breeder. After a month searching for a reputable breeder locally we tried online and found the RossRabbits site run by Karen & Jonathan. (http://www.rossrabbits.co.uk). They were certainly not local however they were breeding Blue Dwarf Lops which we decided would be the perfect addition to the family.

The bunnies were born on the 19th December and on the 5th February 2006 we drove the 150 miles to Ross on Wye to collect them.

After stocking up on copious quantities of Hay, Toys and Food and of course the 2 bunnies themselves we started the long drive back with the bunnies resting in Jens coat.

Arriving home we introduced Denzi & Dee to their new home and left them to settle in overnight.
